Privacy Policy

Japan Internet Xing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “JPIX”) recognizes the importance of personal information. Accordingly, we are disclosing this Privacy Policy and declaring that we will comply with it to thoroughly protect personal information.

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

JPIX will handle the information in 1 to 6 below which we have acquired by lawful and fair means. In addition, we will give full consideration to the handling of customer (end user) information even if it does not apply to personal information depending on its contents.

  • 1. Information acquired by JPIX from our customers (end users) in writing such as application forms, on screens such as via the Internet, orally and by other means to provide telecommunication services and other services (including services incidental to telecommunication services.) We may record telephone calls to confirm the contents of inquiries and to improve services when answering the telephone from customers (end users).
  • 2. Information acquired by JPIX when customers (end users) use our services and other structures (including information acquired automatically by our systems and other structures such as access information obtained using cookies, web beacons, Identifiers For Advertisements (IDFAs) and other technologies.)
  •  3. Information obtained through inquiries to public agencies such as from certificates of residence
  •  4. Information acquired from various publicly available information sources such as telephone directories and the official gazette
  •  5. Information acquired from credit information agencies etc.
  •  6. Other information obtained lawfully from third parties such as through customer (end user) referrals

2. Use of Personal Information

JPIX will use personal information within the scope necessary to achieve the following purposes. We will obtain the consent of the individual in question before using personal information for purposes not stipulated below. “Contract Parties etc.” refer to the parties to each service contract and the billing address, etc.

3. Operations Involving the Use of Personal Information

  • 1. Operations relating to usage fees etc.
  • 2. Operations relating to contract reviews etc.
  • 3. Operations relating to dealing with customer (end user) inquiries
  • 4. Operations relating to after-sales services
  • 5. Operations relating to adding and changing optional services
  • 6. Operations relating to service suspension
  • 7. Information provision operations relating to current services, new services and new menus
  • 8. Operations relating to questionnaires
  • 9. Operations relating to products, services, events and campaigns intended to promote use etc.
  • 10. Operations relating to the development of new services and the evaluation and improvement of service quality
  • 11. Operations relating to the development, operation and management of facilities, devices and software in relation to service provision
  • 12. Operations relating to investigating and responding in the event a product defect, system failure or incident involving a service occurs
  • 13. Other operational purposes stipulated in the service agreement etc.

4. Sources of Personal Information Used

  • (1) Names and addresses of Contract Parties etc. (individuals in question)
  • (2) Dates of birth of Contract Parties (individuals in question)
  • (3) Contract telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and contact telephone numbers of Contract Parties etc. (individuals in question)
  • (4) Information obtained through inquiries to public agencies such as from certificates of residents and certified copies of registration certificates pertaining to Contract Parties etc. (public agencies)
  • (5) Publicly available information such as in the official gazette and telephone directories
  • (6) Names, addresses and contact information etc. obtained from third parties which received the consent of the individuals in question such as through referrals from customers (end users) (third parties)
  • (7) Credit card numbers of Contract Parties etc. required to bill for fees (individuals in question)
  • (8) Details of services applied for by Contract Parties etc. (individuals in question)
  • (9) Service usage fees etc. of Contract Parties etc. (usage information)
  • (10) Information relating to communications history including the start/end time of communications, length of communications and numbers contacted of Contract Parties etc. and users*1 (usage information)
  • (11) Other information acquired incidental to the provision of services etc. such as application and inquiry contents (individuals in question)

*1: JPIX may use information relating to confidentiality in communications among the information stipulated in (10) only when it is to be used in relation to the above operations, when use is permitted for legitimate operational conduct, self-defense, emergency evacuation and other justifiable causes for noncompliance with the law, or when the consent of the customer (end user) has been separately acquired.

5. Safety Management of Personal Information

JPIX will take the necessary and appropriate measures to prevent the leak, loss or damage of the personal information we handle and to otherwise safely manage personal information.

6. Outsourcing of Personal Information

JPIX may outsource some or all of our personal information handling operations. In this case, we will select subcontractors we recognize as those which appropriately handle personal information. Moreover, we will appropriately establish in the outsourcing contract safety management measures (this refers to measures to manage access to personal information, to restrict means of taking personal information outside the company and to prevent unauthorized access from outside, and other necessary and appropriate measures to prevent the leakage, loss and damage of personal information and to otherwise safely manage personal information), maintenance of confidentiality, sub-subcontracting conditions, return of personal information upon termination of the outsourcing contract and other matters relating to the handling of personal information. In addition, we implement the necessary and appropriate supervision of subcontractors.

7. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

JPIX may provide the personal information we hold to third parties as follows.

  • 1. JPIX may provide Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation or Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation for joint use personal information (names, addresses and telephone numbers) and service-related information (information relating to the status of applications or contracts such as line identification information, content of services used, and the time and date of application, start of provision and cancelation of services) by using the Hikari collaboration model provided by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation based on the contract terms and usage agreement for the purpose of application procedures, construction work, service provision, and maintenance and operation relating to telecommunication services using optical fiber and incidental and related services (hereinafter “Telecommunication Services”) when providing Telecommunication Services.
  • 2. JPIX may provide FAMILYNET JAPAN CORPORATION and KDDI CORPORATION, receivables transferees as described in the contract terms, usage agreement and explanation of important matters, for joint use personal information (names, addresses, telephone numbers and credit card information), service-related information (information relating to the status of applications or contracts such as line identification information, content of services used, and the time and date of application, start of provision and cancelation of services), information relating to billing fees and information relating to the payment status based on the contract terms and usage agreement for the purpose of transferring credits relating to fees and otherwise to third parties.
  • 3. JPIX may provide KDDI CORPORATION and OKINAWA CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY for joint use personal information (names, addresses and telephone numbers) and service-related information (information relating to the status of applications or contracts such as line identification information, content of services used, and the time and date of application, start of provision and cancelation of services) only in the event the consent of the individual in question has been obtained within the range necessary to confirm the possibility of service provision and to perform other operations incidental and related to the provision of au Smart Value, au Set Discount and Home Set Discount (Internet Course) for the purpose of applying or giving information on au Smart Value, au Set Discount and Home Set Discount (Internet Course) which we provide in partnership with KDDI CORPORATION and OKINAWA CELLULAR TELEPHONE COMPANY in the contract terms.
  • 4. JPIX may provide agencies which receive emergency calls (the police, Japan Coast Guard and fire departments) the personal information (information relating to the location where an emergency call was made, addresses and names) of our customers (end users) based on the contract terms.
  • 5. In addition to the above, JPIX may provide third parties with the personal information we hold upon processing it into a form which makes it impossible to identify individuals.

8. Disclosure, Correction and Suspension of Use etc. of Personal Information

JPIX will promptly disclose an individual’s own personal information if we receive a request from the individual in question to do so. At that time, we will not disclose the said personal information if we cannot confirm that the person making the request is the individual in question. If there is an error in the content of personal information, we will promptly correct it, add to it, suspend its use or delete in the event we receive a request from the individual in question to do so upon conducting an investigation. At that time, we will not respond to the said request if we cannot confirm that the person making the request is the individual in question.

9. Access Information

JPIX collects customer (end user) access information (URLs of pages accessed, access time/date, browser used and region where access was made, etc.) through external sites to continuously improve our websites. Customers (end users) can opt-out from the external site collection of access information performed by JPIX from the following website.

10. Changes to Content

The content of this Privacy Policy is subject to change. The changes will take effect from when posted unless otherwise specified by JPIX.
